July 24

One of the few snowy spots around camp |
I'm up at 5:30 walking around camp when I realize. I'm the only person awake on an island the size of West Virginia. The closest conscious person is 45 minutes away by
plane. I think it's time to stop walking around and go into the perceived safety of the mess tent!

NASA team arrives |
I feel like I'm on Fantasy Island (anyone under 40 ask someone about the show) our lives revolve around "The Plane". We wait, we constantly listen and then we scramble to get to the airport. Polar Shelf, the company in Resolute that store some of our stuff also runs the planes. They "try" to stick to an agreed upon time but it really doesn't work like that. Last night they had to make and emergency run to some other camp, so they will be bringing the CSA team in the early afternoon, load up with stuff to be returned to Polar Shelf and come back before in 2 hours with the NASA team. We had planned for planes at 8 & 10 a.m. Rob will be returning home on the last plane.
We are all happy that everyone got here safely. Some are extra happy that the internet will soon be running. I'm happy because I have lettuce that isn't black and I have powdered milk and eggs.

It's the little things that makes life wonderful- frozen eggs and powdered milk |
The new arrivals are 7 men who if dinner is any indication haven't eaten in a week. We are at 19 people in camp. And after dinner I get my Birthday cake ( a shared celebration with 3 other July birthdays in camp).
